Epic is a word this adolescent generation seems to have coined with new meaning…or at least they are adding epic to their vocabulary more often.
Last Tuesday, I had a highlight morning drive that felt epic.
Back up to the Tuesday evening before Thanksgiving 2010. One of my daughters left the side gate open and our dog fled into traffic tragically. The last several months, any time our girl is over tired, she resorts to “I miss Duchess”.
We thought she was trying to manipulate, until last Tuesday/Nov. 1st –> the epic morning drive!
Ava made a comment and then it donned on me that she may be harboring the guilt herself that she is the reason Duchess is not with us anymore. I began describing what forgiveness is to my 4 year old. Toning my vocabulary down for her was a shot of reality to keep things simple, but also an unmistakable reality of how freeing forgiveness is. Ava nodded that she understood we do not hold it against her and I held her telling her she does not have to carry that around any more.
Personally remembering forgiveness is “the glory of God” that Christ gives you and me. #epic #forgiveness #future2look2
